This is wonderful news for access to justice! Alongside several other partner organizations, La Maison Bleue is benefiting from $8.5M in funding under the Justice Citoyens agreement, deployed by the ministère de la Justice, the Chambre des notaires, and the Barreau du Québec. This collective project dedicated to hiring community lawyers will allow us to continue providing legal support to the families supported across our 5 sites.
Thanks to this valuable three-year financial support, we are able to ensure a stable, reassuring, and professional presence at the heart of our community settings to inform, support, and advise families on current or future legal situations.
Proximity Legal Support in Social Perinatal Care
For families living in vulnerable situations, accessing justice can be complex. Integrating tailored, personalized, and humane legal support directly into our service offering helps to:
- Foster a sense of security and stability for parents starting in pregnancy.
- Welcome legal needs (family law, youth protection, housing) with compassion.
- Care for the family unit by providing a solid anchor in the face of administrative challenges.
Thanking the Partners of Our Supportive Village
This community lawyers project would not be possible without the concerted vision of our institutional partners. We would like to acknowledge the commitment of the Minister of Justice, Mr. Simon Jolin-Barrette, the President of the Chambre des notaires du Québec, Me Bruno Larivière, and the Bâtonnier du Québec, Me Marcel-Olivier Nadeau.
“This investment will enable the deployment of lawyers at the heart of community settings to offer services tailored to the realities of Quebecers, particularly for the most vulnerable individuals.” — Simon Jolin-Barrette, Minister of Justice
By joining forces, we continue to build a more humane support network.
